I'm playing #SoliumInfernum with a good friend, my brother, and an AI. If you're not familiar with it, it's a #strategygame in which every player is a devil vying for the throne of hell. It is a Diplomacy-style game that has a reputation as a friendship destroyer.

I offered a bargain to my friend to cooperate. He refused, saying "this is hell. You want something, you take it."

And ever since then, I have done so, often at his expense. He's playing a devil that specializes in military conquest. I am playing a devil that specializes in taking other people's stuff and pointing the finger at someone else.

The game is almost done. I have a commanding lead. My friend is vying for a military victory, but in my last few moves, I have crippled him by stealing his lieutenants and an artifact that allowed him to teleport his big, bad unit. And I did it all while also framing the AI.

He has gone on the party chat saying "F-you to whoever did that." And I'm not sure whether the right move in the big picture is to fess up or to stay silent.

It's a game that's all about betrayal. He's played this game before, he knows what's up. You've got to do what you've got to do to win. I just don't see why he's taking it so hard when he should just acknowledge he's been outplayed and should learn something from this.

I wish "Solium Infernum" would be a bit more on sale. It's hard to recommend a somewhat complex and time consuming game to my friends when it's still rather expensive.
Playing against the AI is fun, but I'm sure it'd be even better as a friendship destruction simulator

Longshot toot: do I know any #SoliumInfernum players? I'd like to play some asynchronous multiplayer games against people that aren't completely random, if possible.
