I also think that solar power will also be used in food production. It will be needed for creating fertilizer. And more directly it can be used to create food from air and water using hydrogen oxidizing bacteria. Solar Foods is an example of a company doing this https://solarfoods.com/ (again not endorsing them). If this kind of food production becomes widespread, it will require a lot of solar panels.

I'm becoming more convinced that solar panels will begin to push out farmland. One reason this could happen is it's possible to use solar power to create food. A company in Finland, Solar Foods, uses a bacteria to produce a protein from CO2 scrubbed from the air and from hydrogen which is hydrolyzed from water. The power for this activity is from solar panels. From what I've read so far, they will be able to produce more food per area with solar panels than would be possible with traditional agriculture.

This may or may not be a good thing. Perhaps solar panel fields with grazing animals would be better than monocultures of wheat or corn. But it would be a huge transition, so it could be good to prepare for.
