Hey @kidlightbulbs, got another feature idea for unstream.stream.

Some of my friends send me music recommendations by just sending me a link to Spitify or YouTub, or occasionally Tidal Sometimes without even bothering to include any artist name or title.

It would be great to to be able to paste those links into Unstream and get search results as if I'd entered the name of the artist linked. Bonus points for the right album, double for the right track: )

One thing that's always bothered me about the BandCamp interface is that there's no visual indication of which records are singles and which are multitrack recordings. I presume this is a Dark Pattern, intended to make people spend more time browsing the platform.

Side note: people have tried to rebrand these as 'Deceptive Patterns', but that's only one Dark Pattern type, and I like the subtle reference to the dark side of the force ; )

Konichiwa @ureterocele.bsky.social, always good to see more musicians in the fediverse. I don't think we have anyone from Japan on this forum yet, where we're plotting how to liberate online music distribution from corporate DataFarming platforms. Come join the musical rebel alliance!

Forget endless algorithms! Amazon Music is launching "Fan Groups" for a truly human way to find and share music. Think old-school forums meets streaming. Beta in Canada now, hitting the US next year. Would you actually use a social feature *inside* a music app?

I just thought of a Dad joke nickname for the handle for the musician-centric social network being cooked up at;

The musicverse. As in threadiverse, the "verse" indicates a subset of the fediverse, as well as being the bit of a song that comes before the chorus : P

The Dividing Line is not just a song; it's a movement challenging economic disparity through music.

I am sure real people will listen to it, and think about its lyrics, share it around and use it to take a stand on this important subject.

This thoughtful review of Josephine Miller’s “Community-based Traditional Music in Scotland” summarises 4 elements that contribute to successful community music making. They're certainly part of the two groups I'm learning with: https://www.scotsmusic.org/ and https://phoenixfolk.co.uk/.
