Singer Celeste (Waite) is a neo soul artist who has often been compared, with good reason, to names like Adele and Amy Winehouse, not just from a stylistic point of view but also as a testament to the power of her voice. She has a showstopper voice, for sure, smokey, textured, and undeniable. It adds the kind of body to her songs that turns even a sparsely arranged, calm piece into something big and bold. Hear earlier work had a more jazzy touch with a sandy R&B texture that receded quite a bit on her 2025 album Woman of Faces, where she focused on piano and strings driven ballads for the most part with a considerable dose of melancholy.
