A few weeks ago I had the sudden urge to try cross stitching, but could not find any aida cloth (it was Sunday after all, everything was closed), but luckily I have a friend who is just as obsessed with hobby-collecting as I am, so an hour later she was at my door, cloth in hand 😍🤭

Then of course I forgot about it, as you do, until today! So here's my first cross stitch piece 🙌

Currently making it into a patch by using fusible webbing onto cotton and edge stitching it.

*three hours later*

i have a bowl of washed and picked wool that is now soaking in my sink with a tiny splash of vinegar to be separated out and dyed in the morning!

i also found my dyes and dug out my dyepot and spoon. Pro Tip: don't mix kitchen pots with dyepots if you use professional non-foodsafe dyes. also wear gloves and a respirator if you are working with the powdered stuff. that stuff gets *everywhere* omg.

i'll post pics as soon as i figure out the colors i want. i'm thinking... seafoam, copper, coral, lavender and maybe a dark gold? maybe a pale chestnut? i use CMYK ratios to mix my dyes and it's been a while. so it'll be anyone's guess what i end up with. 😆

My work for the next days: Sewing this flowers and butterflies (there ist batting underneath each, glued with textile glue) with ladder stitch all around the edges on the bought pillow case (80 x 80 cm). After this it is quilting time. 🧵
(Not everything is my colour palette/pattern, but it's especially requested by my kid. I sew a relatively simple quilt blanket out of big blocks in rainbow colours last year for my child and will also appliqué butterflies and my beloved rainbow-flowers on this.)

A Tiny Guardian of Spring

I’ve been working on this little snowdrop spirit, and I love how it turned out—both gentle and a little wild. Snowdrops have always felt magical to me, the first brave ones to push through the frozen earth, whispering that spring is near. I wanted to capture that quiet resilience in this tiny being.

Hand-stitched from wool felt, with a cloak as soft as the first petals of the season, this little one feels like a keeper of woodland secrets. A guardian of the in-between time, when winter still lingers, but the light is returning.

I love creating tiny creatures that feel like they have their own stories to tell. What do you see in this one?

Felt a little stressed that my art projects and crafts are taking so long to complete 🙃.... BUT! 👀 then I remembered the Slow Fashion trend (Much better for the environment, resourceful) 💚🌍👕 as a counter reaction to Fast Fashion (Bad for the environment, wasteful of resources)👕❌ . Maybe the same thing can be applied to arts and crafts too, slow crafting or slow art making for the win!!!^^ 🦥🎨💚 Quality over quantity^^
