Is matching the stripes or other pattern resisting you? Try pulling a ladder stitch!
You just sew from one pattern edge to another and then tighten the thread. Magic! Sew on properly afterwards once the patterns are matched!

Holy fuck it does work. π
It's a little bit wobbly because this is literally the first time I've ever sewn on soutache and I'm deeply thankful for my demi-ambidextrous brain because that helped. Oh heck!
Gift for Alex, my sister.
Helping Alex with cover letters, resumes, essays and whatnot, she always included βI am a strong independent womanβ in her writing.
When I think of Alex, I think of cooler colors- greens and blues. However, I purposefully chose the pouch with a red zipper and will add warm flares here and there.
Here is the beginning:
Yesterday's and today's sewing. The thing about using a very small and very sharp sewing needle is that it's very easy to do small stitches fast. And this, if you're me, leads to only doing very small stitches! It does look nice on this ludicrous fabric, but still, less fine would do and this took me more time than it needed to. π
Remember me replacing a zipper on a backpack? (See βοΈ) You'll never guess what happened with the zipper on the main compartment π¬
I've told the owner he's not allowed to use the middle compartment because I don't feel like replacing that zipper, too. π
Relatedly: Sewing is such a dainty and delicate hobby, in no way at all will you develop interesting new callouses and pierce the tips of your fingers so many times that the skin comes off in sort of strata... π And this is with me using thimbles!
