I need some size advice.
My MIL bought yarn some years ago to knit herself a vest. She's now decided she can't do that herself anymore and so I offered to make it for her.
So far no problem, I picked out a pattern that I think she'll like. But I'm not sure, what size to make. She's close to 90 and has become frail and tiny over the last few years. She's a few hours away so I can't just hop over and take some measurements.

currently doing some initial research for a collection development project for my Children's Materials class. we have to put together a proposed collection of nonfiction books for children that are still in print, all related to a specific theme of our choice. I was thinking it might be interesting to have a collection focused on heritage crafts or fiber arts. I'm planning on including a mix of book types--biographies of fiber artists, craft project books, informational books about how a specific craft is done and what it is.
wanted to throw this question out to the wider mastodon community--do you have any favorite kids books about fiber arts or other heritage crafts like basketry, blacksmithing, or woodworking? even if they're fiction I'd love to hear about them!
A simple #knitting observation based in my own experience.

More travel knitting.
This time is only a short trip to take out daughter to her internship about 2 hours away.
As summer is approaching I'm motivated to finish a light summer top over set aside last fall. It's not much different from sock knitting as it's worked on 2.5 mm needles. Yarn is trio 1 from Isager, a linen / cotton / tencel blend.
No pattern I'm making this up as I go.
Hah! Check this out. It's a thing I've been poking at for ages: finally made a fake digital cross stitch. (Now I need a program to just assemble it from a graphic or a line of text or something.)
(I'm constantly coming up with things that need to be cross stitches, but don't have the time or interest to actually do the handwork.) (Or go buy the materials....)
