Roma, 9 mag. (Adnkronos Salute) - "Affrontare la sclerosi laterale amiotrofica (Sla) è molto difficile e, a volte, può far emergere un senso di sconfitta che sembra non finire mai. Oggi siamo qui perché Papa Leone possa ridare forza ai nostri cuori: con il cuore si possono raggiungere risultati straordinari. La sua presenza, la sua preghiera e la sua benedizione sono per noi molto importanti". Così Mario Sabatelli, direttore del Centro clinico NeMO Roma 'Armida Barelli' del Policlinico Gemelli, durante il corteo organizzato da Aisla in occasione dell'Assemblea nazionale 2026 dell'Associazione italiana sclerosi laterale amiotrofica, oggi a Roma.
La giornata si è aperta con una marcia dal forte valore simbolico: oltre 200 persone tra pazienti con Sla, familiari, volontari e rappresentanti territoriali hanno lasciato insieme la sede dell'assemblea per dare vita a un corteo silenzioso e determinato. Il percorso è partito da piazzale dei Tribunali e si è snodato lungo via della Conciliazione, fino alla conclusione con un'udienza privata con Papa Leone XIV.

His presence, his prayer, and his blessing are very important to us.” Thus Mario Sabatelli, director of the NeMO Roma ‘Armida Barelli’ clinical center at the Gemelli Policlinico, during the procession organized by Aisla on the occasion of the 2026 National Assembly of the Italian Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association, today in Rome.
The day opened with a march of symbolic value: over 200 people, including patients with ALS, families, volunteers and territorial representatives, left together the headquarters of the assembly to give life to a silent and determined procession. The route started from Piazza dei Tribunali and wound its way along Via della Conciliazione, culminating in a private audience with Pope Leo XIV.
