The @pontifex being an obnoxious #WhiteSox fan is my favorite thing.

Like, many many years from now #Vatican archivists are gonna be like, “why is all of this random baseball stuff here?”. And then we’re going to have historians explaining the South Side of #Chicago in Latin.

But the visit yesterday from my favoritest White Sox, @aj_pierzynskift, is the best. First off, for the first time #PopeLeoXIV may have been more excited to meet the guy rather than the other way around. But secondly, there’s this exchange:

AJ: “You know, the White Sox are in first place right now.”
Pope Bob: “Oh, I’m watching and paying attention. Don’t worry.”

There’s so much built in here.
1. No pressure guys, it’s only the Pope you’ll be letting down.
2. You’re on a mission from God.
3. The performance of the Chicago White Sox once again has geopolitical implications.*
