I just discovered #sioyek, a very fast and simple cross-platform PDF viewer that is designed around reading books or scientific papers. I auto-reloads when the file changes, so is well-suited for a #latexmk workflow. Reloading is quasi-instant and also doesn't redraw everything with this dreaded flicker like many other viewers do (looking at you #evince 😑). Right-clicking on an internal link a opens a real, scrollable subwindow preview, nice! 👍
I loved zathura but it's now sioyek's time.
Focused on textbooks and research papers, it brings some very interesting features that may even appeal to people who are simply looking for a way to make their PDF navigation more efficient.

For years, zathura has been my PDF reader of choice. I liked it simplicity, efficiency, clean look, and customization. I could see very few features missing but there were ways to workaround that and no other PDF reader was able to offer me the same pleasant experience. That was true until I came across sioyek . Being focused on textbooks and research papers, it brings some very interesting features that may even appeal to people who are simply looking for a way to make their PDF navigation more efficient, especially when jumping to/from tables (more on that later).
#Sioyek is a #PDF reader for technical documents.
Sioyek is a PDF reader for documents with many cross references, like research papers and textbooks. Sioyek can search through the current document and its table of contents, titles of recent documents, create reference points and bookmarks, and highlight text. Sioyek can also show the last figure side-by-side, and make smart jumps for documents lacking links.
