Dear colleagues interested in #metadata and #laboratory workflows,
our project “Semantic x-Lab” wants to interlink information from different lab-internal systems such as instrument 🔬 and method databases and #ElectronicLabNotebooks, and external sources such as publication #repositories and #Wikidata, in #KnowledgeGraph|s. 🕸️ Our aim is to integrate metadata from previously isolated systems and find new connections in experiments across research centers. 🏛️
We invite you to join us at this year’s #HMCConference2026 - Metadata in Action, where we will be hosting an extended workshop. We are going to present our use cases and first project results. But we would also like to hear your thoughts!
See you on 28th of April at #DKFZ #Heidelberg! #HMC2026 @helmholtz_hmc

HMC Conference 2026 – Metadata in Action How does better metadata drive better science? The Helmholtz Metadata Collaboration (HMC) Conference 2026, held 28–30 April 2026 in Heidelberg, invites you to explore how metadata creates scientific impact across disciplines and infrastructures. Under the theme “Metadata in Action,” this conference is where diverse perspectives meet. Infrastructure providers, data stewards, researchers, and centre operators come together to exchange ideas, showcase...
At the 1st @OSTrails Bootcamp in Braga, Leonidas Pispiringas presented how the OpenAIRE metadata validator has been extended to support FAIRness assessment.
Repositories following the OpenAIRE Guidelines will be able to assess their data collections based on the OSTrails FAIR-IF, helping strengthen the FAIRness of their collections.

People, participation and public value lie at the heart of archaeological practice and policy, and these principles are tested in the way we manage, preserve and reuse archaeological archives. The contributions collected here examine the ‘life after life’ of archaeological #archives.
They explore how digital/physical collections can be made accessible, meaningful & resilient while upholding professional #standards & societal expectations. Across three thematic sections, the volume addresses the #FAIR-ness of archaeological #data, the evolving role of archaeological #repositories, and the broader societal value of archives. Case studies from across Europe demonstrate the opportunities and risks of the digital transition, the increasing demands placed on repositories & the potential of archives to contribute to #science, #education, #health, #community engagement and #innovation.
