How ready are European repositories for real reuse?

A new report from the EOSC-A FAIR Metrics and Digital Objects Task Force shows that while many repositories are strong on discovery, data-level interoperability and reusability still need work.

Because better FAIR digital objects are not only visible, but easier to connect, assess, and reuse.

Very exciting research from colleagues @bih_charite on #data #reuse 🤩 Asking how often shared #biomedical #researchdata from #Charité researchers is actually reused, the authors observed data citations, indirect citations of data articles as well as which #repositories the reused datasets were deposited. They also show the possibilities and limitations of #tracking #datareuse using the #DataCitationCorpus.

our project “Semantic x-Lab” wants to interlink information from different lab-internal systems such as instrument 🔬 and method databases and #ElectronicLabNotebooks, and external sources such as publication #repositories and #Wikidata, in #KnowledgeGraph|s. 🕸️ Our aim is to integrate metadata from previously isolated systems and find new connections in experiments across research centers. 🏛️

At the 1st @OSTrails Bootcamp in Braga, Leonidas Pispiringas presented how the OpenAIRE metadata validator has been extended to support FAIRness assessment.

Repositories following the OpenAIRE Guidelines will be able to assess their data collections based on the OSTrails FAIR-IF, helping strengthen the FAIRness of their collections.
