Too late. There is no-one left with enough clout to take charge of such a move. All the left-leaning MPs have been purged or marginalised. The only possible candidate, Angela #Rayner is currently embroiled with HMRC problems. No-one will want to rock the boat. The only thing #Labour can do now is limp along for the next three years, rudderless and without a clue. #Starmer has seen to that.

But I have feeling that all these numbers are soft. It's unclear what â if anything â any new leader could do to rescue Labour. Someone who has a plausible answer could surge through.
The Westminster media bubble seems to agree that:
1/ #Starmer recognises that he has last control, and may quit on Monday.
2/ Angela #Rayner's pals are briefing that she's ready for a heave.
3/ Starmer is not just crap at politics, but barely interested in politics.
These same commenters spent most of the last six years insisting that Starmer was "the adults are back in charge" .. while those outside the bubble were shouting that the man is a liar who can't do politics. đ

In terms of their conduct and political values, I find them all curious shades of grim. #Rayner has sharp elbows as you rightly note, but also a record on policy which is much much less principled than she likes to present it.
Rayner is more politically skilled than the inept #Starmer, tho that's a low bar. And she tells a good story. But I'd not vote for any of them.
UK's #LabourParty is in crisis. Disgraced #Starmer should be gone already, but the succession is broken.
Frontrunner #Burnham is excluded. #Rayner is most popular alternative, but busy with #HMRC. Ambitious rightwingers #WesStreeting & #ShabanaMahmood can win only if Rayner is still on the bench.
So the incentives are inverted. Rayner is the most anti-Starmer candidate, but needs him to stay on. #Starmtroopers #Streeting & Mahmood need Starmer gone now.
