“The Reform leader’s descent into explicitly far-right rhetoric is the mark of a politician and party which fears its time at the top of British politics may soon come to an end”

“At least the Greens — for all their organisational challenges and occasional missteps — offer some type of path toward genuine alternatives. Burnham’s project, for all its polish, leads back into the same old cul-de-sac”

“Burnham’s no ‘King of the North – he’s the Menace from Manchester for the left”

“Polls show Burnham is outpacing Starmer among Labour members, which really shouldn’t be too difficult. Burnham’s folksy charm and occasional rhetorical flourishes about public control of essential utilities play rather well in working-class heartlands.
So let’s be absolutely clear from the word go. Andy Burnham is no saviour of the left. He is its latest disappointment, dressed in a tracksuit and a warm regional accent.
Worse, his brand of soft-left managerialism poses a direct danger to the Green Party’s growing, necessary challenge to the broken two-party system”

#FIFY, Andy. 😇
#Burnham. Porous,. Soaked in #Blairism since 1994.

(#AndyBurnham started working in 1994 as a researcher for Blairite cabinet minister Tessa Jowell)
This has been a sad week for watchers of the #Makerfield by-eiection.
The ReformUK candidate is a fkake. Other fash are eating his vote.
The neoliberal Andy #Burnham has been outed by the #ManchesterMill as a lightweight. The Conservatives are over. The Greens are beached.
So Burnham will win, and annoyingly delay the long-overdue death of #LINO.
But there is good news: the Count Binface Party is fielding a candidate, who turns out to be — surprise! — #CountBinface himself. ❤️
Many thanks to Gerry Hassan for spotting this excellent article on #AndyBurnham by Joshi Herriman in The #ManchesterMill: https://manchestermill.co.uk/stop-looking-for-burnhamism-in-six-years-ive-never-found-it/
Herrimam has massively reinforced my view that #Burnham is a brilliant metro Mayor, but would be a crap leader of the #LabourParty and a crap #PrimeMinister. It's the #PeterPrinciple: people who do a job well get promoted to a job that's beyond them.

@Koochulainn Back in the 1990s the #DailyTelegraph was Fleet Steet's most reliable ally of trans people. It was very easy and straightforward to work with. Sadly, not no more.
But this is not the Torygraph's fault. The article is a surprisingly reasonable report on #Burnham's choice to side with the transphobes.
