#Miliband #Starmer and the rest, take note:
"Assuming that we will continue to use as much energy as we do now, but from alternative sources, and that we will continue to use more as the economy grows, is unrealistic. It’s an imaginary energy transition that is destined to continue existing only in the imagination."

Iran, London considers sending escort frigates to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
The United Kingdom is assessing several options with allies to contribute to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, blocked by Iran. Energy Minister Ed Miliband announced this, with the goal of allowing passage for oil tankers and regulating the flow of fuel from the Persian Gulf, avoiding further increases in consumer prices. “There are several ways we can make maritime navigation possible. We are intensely examining what can be done because it is fundamental to reopen the strait,” Miliband said in an interview with Sky News. Among the possibilities are the deployment of mine countermeasures or drones for mine detection in Hormuz. Tehran had stated in recent days that it had mined the Strait in order to prevent the passage of ships.
U.S. President Donald Trump had yesterday called on Britain, France, Japan, China, and South Korea to intervene alongside the U.S. to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of global oil transits. Currently, only the United Kingdom has responded and is developing an operational plan. With the war in Iran and declining supplies, the price of crude oil has exceeded $100 per barrel.
