CLondoner92 (New Account)#Transport for #London (TfL) responded to an Freedom of Information request made on 10 April 2025, which asked about the potential for adding #Railcard or Gold Card discounts to contactless cards for use on the #TfL network and for meeting notes from March 2020 onwards regarding discussions on National Railcards, Gold Cards, and contactless or Oyster payments. TfL confirmed they are collaborating with the Department for Transport and the Rail Delivery Group to enable Railcards to be linked with contactless cards in the future as part of a broader initiative to expand pay-as-you-go contactless services across the South East, though no specific delivery date has been set. Additionally, they stated that no meeting minutes or notes were available, as discussions on the matter had been verbal.

LexRabbit hole when buying a #Railcard.
Google top match is railcard.co.uk, so I looked at the site certificate. Nothing credible, just the site name repeated, nothing about the company.
So, went to #LNER, a site I have an account on. BUT the site certificate there repeats the site name, nothing "legal". Even worse the 'railcards' subdomain is owned by "ecmldec24". WTF?
"Secure" sites are a bit pointless if none of the legal owners ever sets up their certificates with meaningful data!

TrainWatchRailcard train fare discounts are being cut by operators this month.
Savings are advertised as being one-third and are currently applied at a rate of 34% for railcards held by people including those aged 16-30 and over 60.
The discount will be trimmed to 33.4% from the middle of September as operators take advantage of an "easing of system limitations".
