Booked a return train in a month's time #London to #Newcastle. I was routinely taking #Lumo as it was significantly cheaper, but #LNER has added 5 car "short" trains terminating at Newcastle, so some are cheaper than Lumo!

1. LNER isn't as packed as Lumo.
2. LNER had easy refunds. Last time Lumo owed me a full refund, it took 4 emails and 3 phonecalls! Delay Repay my butt.
3. More stops, so more empty seats.
4. Optional seat choice in app from nice layout graphic. Table seats!

Return was £42!

A Cartazzi axle is a design of #leading or #trailingWheel support used worldwide. The design was used extensively on the former #LNER's Pacific steam locomotives and named after its inventor F.J. Cartazzi, formerly of the #GreatNorthernRailway. It should not be confused with a #ponyTruck as it does not pivot at all. The axle does, however, have sideways play built in to accommodate tight curves.

I've been ripped off twice this week.

1/2

One by a train company that stayed at 29 minutes late for the two minutes it rolled towards the platform. The official refund site says "We cannot isuue a refund ..." because it's 29 minutes late, not 30. It also happened to someone else I know, some days later. My casual thought is "systemic fraud", and "shall I try to escalate it?"
