Finally re-adjusted to West Coast time, and it’s a beautiful day outside on the island.

A perfect day to play some Fela.

Jazz, funk, soul, afrobeat, the dude was just simply incredible.

He made SO many albums over his lifetime, and I firmly believe that not only was he the most influential artist on funk and African music, but on music period.
His influence on cultures is surpassed only by a select few, and I fully stand by that statement.

Truly one of the most interesting and fascinating dudes to have ever walked the Earth.
If you don’t know much about Fela… dive in.
You’d be hard pressed to find a more colorful and rich life.

An absolutely scorching tribute album to The Sonics, truly one of the most bad ass bands of all time.

A lot of Seattle and Washington State-area bands are here paying their respects; Screaming Trees, Mono Men, Young Fresh Fellows, and Girl Trouble to name a few.

Every single take on this album is fantastic, and more than does justice to the Sonics originals.

I particularly love the Screaming Trees take on “Psycho”.

Truly one of the best tribute albums ever. 🫡

A KILLER find today, and one I’ve been wanting to own for a long while.

Doseone is normally recognized as a rapid-fire abstract rapper, known for the Anticon, clOUDDEAD, and Subtle projects.

Here, he’s actually singing; albeit over glitchy, electronic pop backdrops, creating something very technicolor and dream-like.

“Lastlife” is a GREAT song, and a unique connector between that abstract underground stuff to this more melodic and atmospheric stuff.

A really unique and RE-inventive record.
Apparently, some were put off by his unique singing voice, but I ain’t buying it.
Probably just angry fans of his weirdo shit who felt this was too pop, so they’re grasping at straws.

Truly dig this.

Just picked up my parcel including "Descending … where time has ceased to exist" by #WitchingHour and "Eternal dagger" by @ironkobra.

I'm pretty sure they'll both be in my annual top 10 at the end of the year – Having listened to both #records digitally a couple of times already, I gotta say: They're utterly brilliant, each in its own way!
