SupTronics X1208 – A UPS + M.2 NVMe SSD HAT for the Raspberry Pi 5

The SupTronics X1208 is a UPS and M.2 NVMe SSD HAT for Raspberry Pi 5 designed to offer fast storage and protect the system against data loss during power outages for Edge Computing, NAS, data logging, and other always-on applications. The HAT draws up to 5V/5A from the USB-C port, which charges a 21700 lithium-ion battery (1.5A) and powers the Raspberry Pi 5 directly through the 40-pin GPIO header, eliminating the need for extra cables. It also features an M.2 M-key NVMe slot supporting 2230/2242/2280 SSDs up to 4TB with PCIe 2.0/3.0 speeds. The UPS supports power switching, auto power-on, safe shutdown on low battery, and GPIO-based power/charging control, along with power loss detection. The X1208 board is also equipped with a Maxim fuel gauge I2C chip for battery voltage and capacity monitoring. SupTronics X1208 UPS + M.2 HAT specifications: Compatibility – Raspberry Pi 5 Model B Storage – M.2 M-key
We are trying out the "Age of Mending" Luanti game today. An interesting and engaging game that is described by the maintainer as being an alpha release.
An unusual feature is that characters are three blocks high. So the interior of all spaces have to be at least three blocks high.
I am hosting tonight's game on this RPi 5 and the game loads and runs very fast with three clients connected and playing. Even with special graphics effects turned on.
Nice!
The #Z80 #cpu is no longer produced since 2024, what to do if you need to replace a broken one? The picoZ80 is a drop-in replacement based on the RP2350 #microcontroller
Soon to be released.
Oh.
Ups.
Tried my new VPN gateway on a Raspberry Pi and booted BlackArch live to explore some tools. Sadly, the distro feels abandoned: outdated packages, broken apps, no copy/paste in terminals, and a prehistoric Firefox. A shame, because it still boots under 500MB RAM 😕
Sentinel Core – A Raspberry Pi CM5 mini-ITX carrier board with a PCIe x16 slot (Crowdfunding)

Sanctuary Systems' Sentinel Core is a Raspberry Pi CM5 mini-ITX carrier board with a PCIe x16 slot to easily connect a graphics card to accelerate 3D graphics, video transcoding, or AI workloads. It's basically a larger Raspberry Pi CM5 IO board with a prototyping area, a PCIe slot, and a 24-pin ATX power connector. The Sentinel Core also comes with two HMI ports, a Gigabit Ethernet port, two USB 3.0 ports, MIPI DSI/CSI connectors, and the usual 40-pin GPIO header. Sentinel Core specifications: Supported module - Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 via 2x 100-pin B2B connectors Video Output - 2x HDMI 2.0 ports Networking Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 port Optional WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.x on Raspberry Pi CM5 USB - 2x USB 3.0 ports, 1x USB 2.0 Type-C port PCIe - High-speed, full-length PCIe x16 slot with PCIe 2.0 x1 signal (PCIe 3.0 unofficially supported) Expansion 40-pin Raspberry Pi GPIO
Raspberry Pi 5 costs over 300 USD now. Fuck this timeline.
AI is killing your Raspberry Pi budget 🧵
The Pi 500+ just jumped $150. A new 3GB Pi 4 exists now, and the reason why tells you everything about where RAM prices are heading.
