If you're still waiting for the “right time” to speak up, resist, or prepare — this is it.
We’re not drifting into fascism. We’re in it.
I'm done being quiet.
I prep, I speak, I build, and I refuse to be gaslit.
Join me — we need each other.

This was one of the hardest, but most meaningful things I've done this year considering the heartbreak, horrors and atrocities going on daily in the US, Gaza and elsewhere. In memory of Magnus Hirschfeld and everyone else who lost their lives to fascist atrocities. #SAYTHEIRNAMES

In the final episode of our 3 part series on pioneering sexologist #MagnusHirschfeld, we delve into his life and times leading up to the decision to leave Germany for what would become an extended global lecture tour as his country and #Berlin - the city he loved - falls into the clutches of totalitarianism and Nazi takeover.

CW: this episode mentions things some listeners might find upsetting. Please take care while listening.

Max and Aria are just drivin’ and vibin’, not a care in the world (and honestly, they might not even have a destination) when, suddenly, they see a rainbow! They both love rainbows, but Max has a very specific love for rainbows; one that transcends their beauty and mystique. Max loves rainbows because, yes, they’ve become a symbol of love and resistence for the queer community. You can’t look at a rainbow anymore without thinking about us queer folx. And that’s amazing.

So every time you look up into the sky, see a rainbow, and think “ah, yes, queer pride,” just some hater out in the world is probably being tormented that very same thing.

‘Cause rainbows weren’t made for haters. They were made for love, for joy, for euphoria and happiness; and that’s what being queer is all about.

Happy Pride Month everyone!! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️❤️

From the article: "Meta’s changes to its Hateful Conduct policies explicitly allow for previously prohibited rhetoric targeting LGBTQ+ people, women, and immigrants. The new guidelines now permit language that excludes or insults individuals based on sex, gender, or sexual orientation, citing topics like transgender rights, immigration, and homosexuality as justifications for social discourse. Joel Kaplan, Meta’s chief global affairs officer, defended the changes, writing, “We’re getting rid of a number of restrictions on topics like immigration, gender identity and gender that are the subject of frequent political discourse and debate. It’s not right that things can be said on TV or the floor of Congress, but not on our platforms.” Meta now claims its policies are “designed to allow room for these types of speech,” despite the potential harm such rhetoric poses to vulnerable communities."

From the article: "The new guidelines around hate speech are part of Meta’s broader major changes regarding how it moderates online speech on its platforms. On Tuesday, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said it will replace its fact-checking program, which has relied on trusted organizational partners, with a community-driven system similar to X’s Community Notes. X’s system allows users to submit suggested “notes” on other people’s content, and then certain users vote on whether or not the notes are publicly displayed. Zuckerberg cited “recent elections” and “a cultural tipping point towards, once again, prioritizing speech.”

Meta’s new hate speech rules allow users to call LGBTQ people mentally ill

From the article: "Discourse surrounding queer resistance, resilience, and liberation is overwhelmingly focused on the Western world. Consequently, coverage of international queer stories often lacks cultural competency and awareness, and we impose Western belief systems and logics upon LGBTQ+ victims around the world. In reality, though, many global institutions of LGBTQ+ discrimination are remnants of European and colonial justice systems. A nuanced and comprehensive approach to queer liberation, thus, must shine a light on the formidable courage of queer activists worldwide, amplify their voices sincerely and authentically, and recognize the uniqueness of their experience."
