As a newborn pixie, i have a wealth of questions! With total 100% understanding and appreciation of the people volunteering their time to develop this media and app, thankies 💌🙏
But, now questions! In the app: are there no #DM feature available? And can the #Global feed not be accessed? Is there an official help channel and/or a set of startup instructions?
And why does nothing seem to happen when I try to make posts in the app (works only in browser)
I have more, but let's start with the basic most valuable to me :)
Answers will be appreciated with thoughts and prayers! JK you'll get a nice thank you, like normal people 😂

Vielleicht kann ich ja heute wieder posten, nachdem mich gestern Abend die Fehlermeldung "Account size limit reached" auf Pixelfed heimgesucht hat. Weiß jemand mehr darüber? // Maybe I can post again today, after getting an "𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱" error message on #PixelFed last night. Does anyone know more about this?

What is the point in post visability settings if anyone can follow a public profile without being screened? And if your profile is set to private so you can screen followers, no one can see posts set to public? Am I missing something? #Pixelfed #PixelfedHelp #Privacy #PrivacySettings

Another thing i am unable to find while using #Pixelfed via Browser on my Smartphone :

I can not see anywhere:
-My comments
-what i liked or boosted
-marked/safed posts.

There are no buttons, pages, sides on my profile or anywhere.
Is that different on desktop?

If i cannot access the list of marked posts/boosts on my phone... That'd be strange, since i think that Pixelfed is optimized for Smartphone?! (is it not?).

There is a bug in the reply option in Pixelfed App.

Not sure which profile to direct this issue to, so mentioning 3!
The Pixelfed app has a bug where a reply to a comment that is longer than 1 line disappears the "post" option. It is not possible to reply in the app except on one line. See screenshots. You see 'post', bottom right on the reply of one line, but it's gone as soon as the second line is begun.

I had an idea for an infographic like this for new users to #pixelfed who might be familiar with other social media platforms (!nstagram, Tw!tter) etc. I see people post all the time with zero tags for example. I was not aware of some of this as a new user myself and maybe it would be helpful to share things like this.

This is me just slapping together some bullet points in Canva. If there's already some sort of guide for pixelfed I hope we can share it more. Or is this already very obvious to everyone here? Could you make a better version of this?

Question about #pixelfed

Is it possible to upload the images without having them being recrompressed on the server?

Background: I'm using the web interface, no app. My workflow is to crop and rescale the images before the upload, and when creating the post, I do not edit/crop/filter the images in the web interface, just arrange the order.

To get most out of the available storage as well as to reduce traffic, I tried to use jpegli to compress my images before upload. However, it turns out that the files which end up in the post on the server tend to be 10 to 20% bigger than what I uploaded (and the additional lossy recompression pass didn't exactly improve the quality either), eating up all the advantage I got from jpegli in the first place...

Is this just a limit of the web interface, or did I miss something? Would a direct upload be possible on API level? If so, are there any tools/apps which allow this?
