Speaking of oceans, a friend is currently on Oahu testing this low-cost ocean exploration device she helped develop, called DORIS - deep ocean research & imaging system. It's about $10,000, which is cheap for this type of gear. She's about to go on a Pacific cruise on the E/V Nautilus, a very cool research boat, to map more of the sea floor.
