Stop Big Oil billionaires polluting our seas for profit

The Government must keep its promise to ban new offshore oil and gas. Drilling harms marine wildlife, causes toxic spills, and won't lower our bills. Add your name to protect our ocean!

Let the Ocean Kiss You

Close your eyes,
let the sea breeze microdose you.
Poke your fingers deep in sand
till cold grains engross you.

Get real loose
in the shoreline’s grip;
tuck your bare feet deep beneath
your hips;
swim in the air at your own risk.

Lean forward,
hair a flag of warning.
Beware strong currents;
heartbeats storming.

Part your lips.
Find your wind bliss.

Trust his suntanned dunes,
his seaweed hairdo.
The ocean blue of
a pair of jeans
partly unzipped.

Give in to all of it,
you know you want to.
Take what the day gives.
Let the ocean kiss you.

Yes, the sunset was fabulous again.

A multi-stressor scenario for the ocean and waterway ecosystems:

* The ocean is 'cooked' by the combustion of fossil fuels.
* Add a generous heap of 'nutrient-rich' floodwaters (runoff) from farms and suburbia.
* Get a harmful algal bloom (HAB) disaster, killing bio-diverse marine life and threatening the hip pocket nerve of coastal dwellers.

"A survey found that Australians remained far more concerned about disasters such as bushfires and flooding than they did HABs, despite 22 million people living with seven kilometres of the coastline and climate change modelling predicting more frequent and severe blooms."

"The study also found Australians had a "relatively low prioritisation of disasters — and HABs in particular — when compared with everyday socio-economic concerns"...Cost of living and healthcare dominated respondents' concerns in Australia, while environmental and climate change-related risks were perceived as less pressing.' >>

Understanding of harmful algal blooms still murky, disaster survey finds

Most Australians remain uncertain about the cause of harmful algal blooms and are more worried about disasters such as bushfires and flooding.
