The USA has never in its history fought a defensive war. It fights wars of imperial conquest and imperial control, with a global network of military bases. So "Department of War" is a much more honest name. Enough of the defence-washing of military aggression!
(And no, WWII and the so-called "War on Terror" were not American defensive wars)
