(Reading a bit about the GOP being aghast at a NC senator's "lack of decorum" this morning. )

I am reminded how I have thought it a good idea to acquire a print of the 1856 political cartoon about the caning of US Senator Charles Sumner, which happened in chamber; one senator beating another senator bloody.

Except I need it captioned with that Jefferson/Washington quote "we pour our legislation into the senatorial saucer to cool it".

@carolina.forward #NorthCarolina has the opposite problem where the governor is almost powerless (because it’s always #democrats who get it in this purple state) and thus the [republican] legislature has an incentive to actually *do things*.

Should #congress follow NC’s lead and neuter the presidency so they have actual skin in the game? Last time the #US took #NC advice we went to war with Mexico (President Polk), so I’m not entirely sold on my proposal…
