Psychosocial health and MSDs are interlinked, research shows how! | Safety and health at work EU-OSHA

New research published by EU-OSHA finds evidence for an association between psychosocial risk factors and musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). Drawing on the latest European data on the impact of mental wellbeing, researchers review how psychosocial risks can contribute to and exacerbate MSDs, and MSDs can be associated with psychosocial factors. They provide recommendations for effective approaches to prevent MSDs and discuss how early interventions and support from employers and colleagues can ease workersโ€™ return after MSD-related sick leave.

๐Ÿšจ #Stress, anxiety and #depression can make #MusculoskeletalDisorders worse or last longer.

โœ… But with early intervention & positive support from co-workers and managers, employees can overcome these challenges:

Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) tend to be associated with physical risk factors, such as heavy loads or repetitive movements; however, psychosocial factors can play a significant role.
