It is totally insane to basically eliminate #NIOSH. It provided top quality data on how to maintain a #healthy (=productive!) workforce. Itโs also worth noting that not only the 900 NIOSH staff were laid off. They also cut most external NIOSH programs. In total this brings several thousand highly qualified experts on the global job market.

The Good Practice Award contest is an annual event, providing companies across Latvia with an opportunity to share good practice they have implemented in special areas related to occupational safety and health (OSH). This year, the topic was "investments in OSH" (especially in the area of workplace ergonomics, which is linked to the Ligthen the Load campaign) that increase the measurable productivity of the company. In total, 10 companies submitted their examples.

The prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) among children and adolescents is quite high and many young people enter the labour force with pre-existing musculoskeletal problems which can potentially be exacerbated by work. This is why the public health, education and occupational health sectors must join forces to prevent MSDs and to foster musculoskeletal health among children and young people.
