eMonocot was a collaborative global, online, biodiversity information resource provided by a number of botanical organisations to create a database on Monocotyledons. Participating institutions, all in England, included the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew, the University of Oxford, the Natural History Museum and the Natural Environment Research Council.

Palm trees belong to the monocot group of flowering plants, which also includes grasses, and as such are more closely related to grass than other trees.

#Chives (genus /Allium/, species... um, schoen-something, I'm not going to look it up), a member of the #Amaryllis family of flowering #monocots.

It used to be in the #Onion family, #Allioideae-- I mean it still is, but Onion is not a family anymore. It's now a SUB-family (it got Pluto-ed). It all rolled up into Amaryllis during the shuffle.

I didn't remember the details, but it's probably John Hutchinson's fault.
