Realized that my mini-split installation might be weird because of the trailer wall curvature. Tried researching if it was OK to mount the interior evaporator/fan unit at an angle without luck. Would seem to be fine, but reached out to an HVAC guy in the Festiva Group to double check.
Nope. Needs to be as close to 90 degrees as possible or better yet angled back a little. The refrigerant doesn't care, but there will be condensation that needs to drain.
Guess I'll have to build a frame for it that compensates for the wall curvature.
whoa, that's wild! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3o1jl2Qs9L4
After two winters of heating my backyard greenhouse (tropical plants) with fan blown electric resistance heating (read: electric space heater), I'm looking for a more efficient method.
I see others using methane or propane, but, yuck and I don't want to cause an explosion.
I haven't seen examples of people doing it, but would it be possible to wire up a 120v mini split?

I've seen #Heliostat devices for years. Always been interested in eclectic green tech. But I never had a NEED for one, until now.
Last fall, I installed a #MiniSplit #HeatPump & it was ALMOST enough to keep the back shed warm enough. But sometimes the coils froze up outside.
It now dawns on me (pun intended) that if I had a heliostat to reflect sunlight onto those coils in winter, it would MUCH more effectively pump heat into the shed. Right?
But here's the problem... (cont'd)
I am not trained for this, but I'm doing it anyway.
Story of my life, really.
Does anyone have recommends for book or website I can use to educate myself on options for upgrading a postwar bungalow from a gas furnace + AC to heat pump(s)? The book I have is OK for basic principles but I’m looking for more what units are available, cost, installation pitfalls.
I have asthma which is aggravated by the current system blowing dust around summer + winter. Primary motivation is comfort, better energy efficiency would be bonus points. #HVAC #HeatPump #minisplit #renovation
