Advice please! We think we have enough money to either a) swap out our gas boiler for an air-source heat pump or b) get solar. Which one is the best to prioritise? We're in the UK.

After two winters of heating my backyard greenhouse (tropical plants) with fan blown electric resistance heating (read: electric space heater), I'm looking for a more efficient method.
I see others using methane or propane, but, yuck and I don't want to cause an explosion.
I haven't seen examples of people doing it, but would it be possible to wire up a 120v mini split?

Heating the hot water using the #HeatPump on eco mode over the past few days has cost less than the gas standing charge would have been. So we are already saving money since the gas meter was taken out. Ok pennies or tens of pennies per day in the summer but it adds up.
Finally got an #AirSourceHeatPump installed, after many false starts and a fair bit of #procrastination on my part.
And this morning I deleted my #Twitter / #X accounts and apps so i don't have to put up with #Trump / #Musk sewerage on my timeline anymore.
So, overall, a good week for plumbing improvements.

People seem obsessed with the cost. As it turns out, over its lifetime I’m confident it’ll be at least the same as running as gas boiler with the distinct possibility it’ll be much cheaper.
But that isn’t really the point… 👇🏻

My answer tells you what I think of it 🙄
All approvals for an air source heat pump installation met, so now waiting on dates on which my installation can occur.
Very excited!
This is a couple of weeks during April on the Cosy Octopus tariff.
There are 2 low rate sessions when I run my ASHP for hot water or charge my EV.
It’s early days. It’ll be interesting to see how I’m doing in May, but overall this is a promising start.
