After getting 4 daunting price quotes for a heat pump installaion, we decided to take a big plunge and get a DIY system for less than half the price. And after talking to a number of pro HVAC guys I realized the install was something I could definitely do properly.
Of course, no pro HVAC contractor wants to touch these diy units, so if we have problems I'll probably have to learn a few more things, but so far so good. We cool.
