I wrote up some thoughts on my experience working with the #Libretro interface for frontends / emulators. The short version is, I think it's pretty badly designed, and lacking documentation. But I managed to succeed in my goals anyway.

Many years ago I set up a disused Pentium 4 desktop with Debian as an emulator console connected to our TV. The system served well enough - I played through all of Chrono Trigger on it, at least - but it has a particular problem, which is that the motherboard is saddled with the pathetic i740-based
AWB "desktop"
KDE lancia KRetro: emulatore Libretro con interfaccia nativa Plasma, supporto RetroArch e integrazione desktop. #KDE #LinuxGaming #Libretro #OpenSource #Emulazione
The first KRetro Alpha Release is here! KRetro is a libretro frontend from KDE written in Qt with Kirigami! That means when given both a libretro core, and a game cartridge/disk ROM, it plays your favourite games. It is designed to be convergent, usable across all Plasma Platforms: Desktop, Mobile and Bigscreen.
I think I've managed pretty good n64 emulator settings to run Perfect Dark 😯 it seems like it is impossible to get n64 emulation spot on but Perfect Dark runs pretty decent now.
The Rice core mostly works with games that were close to the n64 release. Works great with Super Mario 64 but can't handle Perfect Dark.
I tried all the other available cores and stuck with Glide64 for a while but the game would always freeze for a few milliseconds when pressing A to swap weapons. Also on single player missions, the AI was somehow buggy (Not in combat simulator however)
Decided to go back to the mupen64plus-next core.
Went with these additional settings:
- Graphics API: openGL (Vulkan just doesn't work at all 🤔),
- Rendering resolution: 3x
- RDP plugin: parallel RDP
- RSP plugin: parallel (best lle)
- CPU core: dynarec
Happy for now 🤘🏽
The problems mentioned for Glide64 are not there. However one thing I noticed is that the game-speed slightly slows down when there is a lot going on. For example explosions, or using the lift in the first mission which triggers certain lighting effects. Even when game speed slowdown is only subtle, it is still noticeable through the soundtrack.
Wondering what else could be tweaked when it comes to n64 emulation 🤔

Initial experience with #PSP games on the #RetroidPocket5 is mostly good! BurnOut runs with some stuttering. I can probably tweak some settings to get it to a steady FPS. #PPSSPP crashed and caused #Rocknix to reboot once, and I can't find a way to run it as a #libretro core so that Auto-Saves work consistently. I'm hopeful that those details can get worked out.
MusOS on Anbernic RG35XXSP
Dear FediFriends who use #MuOS with the #Anbernic #RG35XXSP, I need your help... 🙏
I can't figure out how to open the #LibRetro menu while playing any game, the menu button looks to work only if pressed together to another button, however I couldn't find the right combination.
Thanks in advance... 🙏
Two interesting projects I'm keeping an eye on:
