Today, while picking garlic in the floodplain forest, I managed to snap a photo of this handsome fellow on a wild garlic leaf. It’s an oak weevil, Curculio glandium. He’s probably young, because he hasn’t yet learned the trick most weevils use—when a photographer stares at you, retreat to the underside of the leaf and wait until they leave. Not this one—he patiently let me take his picture.

Me encanta cómo han quedado las texturas de los élitros y de la jara. Y me parece un milagro que el negro del insecto se vea bien sin haber quemado los pétalos en exceso. Y creo que el polen que salpica su cuerpo le da un toque gracioso a la fotografía. La pena es que el pronoto, la cabeza y las antenas no están enfocados. En fin, no se puede tener todo.
Este escarabajo tiene un nombre precioso: Heliotaurus ruficollis (familia Tenebrionidae). Es muy común y seguro que todes les habéis visto pululando entre las flores.

Este cabrito no me dejó hacerle una foto decente, con el precioso color tornasolado que tenía. Andaba de un lado para otro entre las flores de jara pringosa y no paró quito. También es de la escapada a Portugal.
Chrysanthia viridissima (familia Oedemeridae). Los imagos son florícolas, alimentándose de néctar y polen, mientras que las larvas son xilófagas y se alimentan de madera muerta.

Me gusta esta foto porque la presencia del escarabajo aporta algo distinto, le da más gracia.
La planta, cómo no, es Serapias lingua y el escarabajo Oxythyrea funesta, un escarabajo florícola.

Der Mehlkäfer (Tenebrio molitor) gehört zu der Familie der Schwarzkäfer. Seine Larven ("Mehlwürmer") werden gerne an Tiere (u. a. Vögel, Reptilien) verfüttert. Leider entwickeln sich die Larven auch in Haushalten und verderben dort Lebensmittel. Auf der Beliebtheitsskala sind sie in der Hinsicht eher relativ weit unten angesiedelt.
