@vermaden I have some theory, that popularity of Mac laptops seriously damaged engineering expertise in field of laptop keyboards. Every CEO wants to produce Apple-like laptops => companies order only island-type keyboards with extremely small press distance for keys => factories remove equipment to produice old-style laptop keyboards and/or lost the necessary knowledge => people forgot how these keyboards were cool => we are here.

Seriously, all modern mass-market laptops [1], even the #Framework , looks like Apple MacBook — very thin, small amount of sockets, island keyboard and a big touchpad (and no any other pointer devices). Absolutely zero personality and absolutely disguisting.

[1] Except #MNT Reform, I think.

After using my aluminium backplate for quite a while, I was curious whether copper would lower the temps of my MNT Pocket Reform further (It does by ~ 3°C). @fesix and I also etched the artwork I used on the other plate into it again. That was quite a bit of work since the photoresist was not good. Next up: tempering tests to change the copper’s color and give it a more industrial look.

It seems to be customary to post a message about being on the way to Hamburg for the #39C3 so here is mine with the obligatory photo out of the train window with a view of the river Neckar. @mntmn Hello, happy holidays (if you celebrate)

I have a small question regarding ordering an MNT pocket reform (I hope this is the right place to ask)

On the shop page, expected shipping is listed as 2 months, but in the November 2025 update on the MNT site, it says 3-4 months on orders after 2025-09-10, so should I expect somewhere between 2 to 4 months or...?

Also, if I order now will I get the updated keyboard and motherboard V2?
