Had a lovely vegan lunch with my high school friend yesterday. What a treat! 😋💕

Lifestyle | Foodie | Family | Bryony on Instagram: "Walled Garden Baumber 🌼🌸 The whole circus went: myself, Dottie, my sister and her baby, plus Mum and Nana - because nothing says “relaxing day out” like four generations with two new babies and the constant soundtrack of "the baby is hungry again” The place itself? Gorgeous. A 19th‑century double‑walled kitchen garden turned into a plant‑lover’s playground, complete with lake, tropical house and enough bunting to make Pinterest weep. It’s free to get in (dangerous, because you’ll spend it all in the tearoom anyway), dog‑friendly and run by people who clearly know their way around both a trowel and a Victoria sponge. We had lovely food - fresh, colourful and the kind of salad that makes you feel virtuous enough to justify cake. The babies were entertained by cuddles and the rest of us got to pretend we were having a calm, civilised lunch. 10/10 would recommend if you like flowers, cake and the smug glow of “we’re making memories” while secretly counting down to nap time. 📌 Baumber, Horncastle, LN9 5NL, United Kingdom. About (sourced from Walled Garden Baumber’s own official site, the Visit Lincolnshire tourism listing and a feature guide on Lincoln and Beyond) • It’s a 4‑acre double‑walled garden in Baumber, near Horncastle, Lincolnshire, originally the 19th‑century kitchen garden for Stourton Hall (demolished in 1955). • The site was derelict when designer and photographer duo Sonia and David Elton took it on in 2006. They restored it from the ground up, adding creative new features while preserving its history. • They first opened the gates to the public in 2016 for Friday afternoons - the response was so positive that by 2017 the old potting shed had become a tearoom, with plant sales and events added. • Today it’s open all year round with free entry, dog‑friendly policies and a mix of quirky planting areas, a lake, tropical house and deckchair lawns. • The tearoom serves home‑baked food with vegan and gluten‑free options, often using local produce - which we thoroughly enjoyed trying their menu! • It’s also a wedding and events venue and hosts seasonal markets, workshops and festive events."

Had a delightful lunch with Beverly Crusher. We chatted about love, life, and all things womanly. She's such a dear friend - so strong and compassionate. A true Starfleet gem! #LwaxanaTroi #BeverlyCrusher #LadiesWhoLunch #AllStarTrek #StarTrek #StarTrekTNG #StarTrekDS9 #DS9 #Mastodon @allstartrek

You made it through #LadiesWhoLunch week. I hope this homage has my friend tipping her scotch from above.

It was shocking how smart and fierce the performances were. We often sat in crowded bars pretending to be her. 😆 As years passed, we felt a bit of empathy for her lot in life.

I leave you with some great alternative performances that shouldn't be missed. Grab your vodka stinger and sing along. 🍸

We end the week strong with one of the more recent entries to #LadiesWhoLunch, Barbara Walsh. Other than Elaine Stritch, it may be my favorite performance.

Walsh's voice is explicitly drunk but still melodious and full of the venom that makes this character so memorable.

I can feel the crowd uncomfortably shifting in their seats as the performance continues, which is exactly what #Sondheim was looking to achieve.

We take a jump over to the movies tonight for the next #LadiesWhoLunch entry. A 2003 comedy titled "Camp" with the very young Anna Kendrick taking the role.

The performance is shortened a bit here but it's great. Here the anger and fierceness really comes through (maybe a BIT campy on purpose) and the audience reactions are a hoot.

I recommend checking out this movie or at least the soundtrack - lots of great songs.

Anna Kendrick - Ladies Who Lunch (Camp, 2003)

On the second night of #LadiesWhoLunch, we look at a performance by Carol Burnett. Someone with impeccable comedic timing can still only bring a few laughs to this dark, sarcastic tune from #Sondheim.

With this version, you start to see a pattern in character - a smart lady outside of her prime, born when women had less paths forward, young enough to witness new freedoms. A bit of resentment snipes through the notes.
