@petejohanson I ran Fedora #Kinoite (the KDE-based atomic desktop) for about a year, and recently swiched to #auroradx. The atomic desktops do make things work a bit differently, but I’ve generally liked it. I loved that the switch from kinoite to aurora was literally just changing the update stream, then running a few commands to install stuff that was new.
The downside with the atomic desktops is generally that for development work you have to work in a container. That wasn’t an issue for me, as I already prefer to install different tools in different containers to make it easier to upgrade the OS later. Aurora uses brew, so most of my tools end up installed in my home directory, but I still end up using containers for some things.
i do exasperate myself sometimes with my changing sensibilities wrt my preferred
#font. i keep toggling twixt #RobotoCondensed, and #NimbusSansNarrow . For the past several weeks i'd set it to the latter, but after a few [or several?] days of dissatisfaction with it, i've now toggled back to the former... yet again. based on history it seems inevitable that in another coupla months i'll likely jump back again.
otoh in #Plasma itself, i do seem reasonably settled with #NotoSansExtraCondensed -- this seems generally to survive much longer before i feel the urge to change it, compared to in my browser.
damn dopey dropbear! 🙄🤦♀️

Switched from #Fedora #Kinoite to #Bazzite on my main PC today. The process was quick, simple, and (mostly) painless. Score one more for Fedora Atomic desktops. I even had the option of keeping my kinoite install to boot in case there were problems with bazzite.
The one problem I did have was that bazzite doesn’t have toolbox, so vscode wouldn’t start my toolbox container which has all of the various tools I’ve needed for different projects. I used a distrobox container instead, and will just have to re-install various tools as I go.

A friend missed the MS Comic Sans font in Libre Office on Kinoite I had just installed for him.
Lucky find😊!

#FirefoxNightly #FirefoxSecondSidebar #TreeStyleTab #Sideberyoh i was wrong, exporting does work, once ya use the correct command. the -a failed here coz that's for apps, applications [my normal use-case], whereas this time it's not an app, it's a binary, ergo:
📦[droppie@my-arch bin]$ distrobox-export -b /usr/bin/fastfetch
/usr/bin/fastfetch from my-arch exported successfully in /home/droppie/.local/bin.
OK!
📦[droppie@my-arch bin]$ ff in my ordinary #kinoite terminal, without needing to layer it... 💃🥳🎉
#KDELinux has #fastfetch pre-installed as part of its core image,
#Fedora #Kinoite does not. methinks that before i bother layering it, i'll see if installing it via a #Distrobox container works.
