In a groundbreaking revelation that nobody asked for, two authors claim language models are actually just like distributed systems... because, you know, both involve computers and math 🀯. They proceed to drown us in a sea of jargon and acronyms, leaving readers wondering if this paper is an elaborate AI-generated prank 😜.

Language Model Teams as Distributed Systems

Large language models (LLMs) are growing increasingly capable, prompting recent interest in LLM teams. Yet, despite increased deployment of LLM teams at scale, we lack a principled framework for addressing key questions such as when a team is helpful, how many agents to use, how structure impacts performance -- and whether a team is better than a single agent. Rather than designing and testing these possibilities through trial-and-error, we propose using distributed systems as a principled foundation for creating and evaluating LLM teams. We find that many of the fundamental advantages and challenges studied in distributed computing also arise in LLM teams, highlighting the rich practical insights that can come from the cross-talk of these two fields of study.

πŸš€ "Trunk Based Development" πŸ€” is like a never-ending intro to a term you didn't ask for, sprinkled with more buzzwords than a startup pitch. It promises "continuous" everything, yet leaves your brain stuck in an endless loop of jargon. Good luck branching out of this verbose forest! 🌲πŸ’₯

πŸš€ So, a bunch of tech wizards cooked up Version 3 of a #Linux disk I/O diagram that'll finally let you understand... absolutely nothing new! πŸŽ‰ It turns out layering fancy jargon over an old concept still doesn’t make it revolutionary. πŸ™ƒ

πŸ‘»πŸ” "The RAG Obituary" hilariously pretends to be a funeral for irrelevant techβ€”only to be buried under its own jargon avalanche. Somehow, "retrieval-augmented generation" managed to survive the onslaught of buzzwords and context windows...but just barely. Who knew AI would need a eulogy? βš°οΈπŸ’»

πŸ·πŸš€ "Informed Poll" is less informed than a sleep-deprived squirrel on caffeine. It's an endless loop of jargon and acronyms, like someone eating alphabet soup and expecting a standing ovation. πŸŽ‰ If you manage to escape the word salad, congratulationsβ€”you've won nothing. πŸ†πŸ’€

πŸ€” Ah, the groundbreaking revelation that part-time work is now called "fractional," because simple terms aren't cool enough for engineers. πŸ› οΈ Let's sprinkle some corporate jargon and make it sound revolutionary, because who wouldn't want to feel like a fraction of themselves at work? πŸ“‰
