Root River Trail is closed at top going from Rushford to Houston. Wide shoulders on detour will get you there. I didn't go on today, but will sometime in the future.

Just read in "The Fillmore County Journal" p. 24. by Hanson, Wanda

that in "other business" of the City of Rushford, that the Root River Trail from Rushford to Houston will be closed for repairs until August 2026.

I'd seen the white and red barriers and thought they were for a special event. Nope.

How's that going to effect the triathlon?

Going to use Highway 16 when Owl City Cycles opens for the season.

Houston Library had a free Minnesota State Parks pass. Since I'm a member of SELCO through the Rushford Library, I was able to get it. Only good till the 30th, but we'll try to use it.

Bicycled home, enjoyed a wonderful breeze.

28 miles today to Houston, Minnesota. This a bit harder as it has a steep hill.

Glad I did both. Hot and humid reminded me of North Alabama.

Bicycled over the long bridge crossing over the Root River on the Root River Trail between Houston, Minnesota and Rushford, Minnesota.

The "clank clunk" of what sounded like loose planks was unnerving, but seemed perfectly safe.

The large white boards that were in the middle are gone. I'm sure they were there for a reason during winter, I just don't know what that is.

It was beautiful weather today.
