Je suis assez satisfait de mon setup depuis le déménagement ! Alors je vous le partage !

Juste un peu ennuyé que le #bluetooth ne veuille pas capter depuis le canapé (je suis obligé de me mettre sur un tabouret 1m devant le canapé). Donc rallonge #USB.

Désolé pour le jeu non consensuel mais ça reste un bon jeu à histoire...

Damn, I wasn't aware just how usable "raw" #SteamOS is these days when installed on a regular desktop (with the usual recommended hardware setup you'd expect with #Linux ofc i.e. #AMD GPU, etc.).

#LTT tested installing, again, "raw" SteamOS (so.. not #HoloISO, #ChimeraOS, or #Bazzite) on one such desktop PC and tried #gaming on it and even perusing the #KDE Plasma desktop mode and honestly, with very little hitches - the few of which are mostly expected hitches since SteamOS is still primarily designed for the #SteamDeck and the Steam Deck alone.

Fingers crossed SteamOS will be released to more devices soon this year, likely starting with more handhelds from other vendors and maybe to the general desktop a year or more later. As much as a lot of people are demanding #Valve to go fuck all and rush their distro out to the general public, they seriously have no idea what they're wishing for.

Anyone tried and successfully got #Plasma 6 up and running on a desktop using an Nvidia GPU? I’ve tried #HoloIso and #Manjaro so far but after installation (and enabling Wayland on Manjaro) rebooting results in a black screen after passing GRUB. Current hunch is that it’s got something to do with having two monitors plugged in but haven’t had enough chances to test different configurations between cables and using iGPU ports. Just looking for ideas to try

Question for the #linuxgaming crowd.
So I'm planning to get a new PC soon. And this one will be almost exclusively a gaming
PC.

So I'm actually tempted to consider one of the #SteamOS on PC distros like #holoISO.

What is the experience like? Do they allow full package installs out of the box (no read only root) - it's still a PC after all and not a handheld gaming device.

Major caveats?

Outside of that, what is actually the best gaming distro these days?

Interesting. Hopefully this gives a little kick to #Valve to speed things up in getting #SteamOS... everywhere. Though I don't blame them or think they're purposefully "locking" SteamOS in longer than they need to, they simply actually just need to cos #SteamDeck users would know how SteamOS, as great as it is, comes with a lot of bugs and quirks Valve is struggling to iron out 2 years after its launch - and that's while it's still dedicated to the Steam Deck. Its complexity would be upped tenfold when it starts to be adapted to the general desktop and other handhelds.

Just look at other SteamOS like distros, like #HoloISO, #ChimeraOS and #Bazzite. As great as they are too, and while it's nice that thanks to them we get to have a feel of SteamOS on a lot of desktops besides just the Steam Deck, it'd be a lie to say the experience at the moment isn't a buggy mess that have things, sometimes really important ones, break every update or two. They genuinely need the time to cook.
