#Rassismus im Bus

Am 14. Mai 1961 wurden die ersten #FreedomRiders in den USA beinahe lebendig verbrannt. Zwei ihrer Busse wurden von Rassisten und #KuKluxKlan- Mitgliedern umzingelt. Doch der Mut zahlte sich dennoch aus.

Nichts hat sich verändert: Heute werden in den USA Wahlkreise "optimiert", um der weißen Mittel-& Oberschicht die "demokratische" Kontrolle zu sichern.

"Sie waren bereit, Menschen verbrennen zu lassen."

Today in Labor History May 14, 1961: Racists bombed and burned a bus full of Freedom Riders in Alabama. They shot out the tires and threw smoke bombs into the bus, and then attacked the occupants with sticks. Racist doctors at the local hospital refused to treat the wounded.

He said the cops told the #KKK where the 13 #FreedomRiders [link] would be arriving, so they greeted them with baseball bats, lead pipes, chains, & stones. He was lucky to survive, beaten unconscious.
