From free-cities.org newsletter:

"[..] the arbitration process between #Prospera and the #Government of #Honduras has started [...] for $10.775 billion. Other companies are suing Honduras as well, reacting to other anti-investment moves by the Honduran government. Honduras is also facing pressure from the US, with a bill being introduced to “protect US investment” abroad."

Interesting to see how international-grade agreement works out.

Here is one good reason for #Seasteading and #FreePrivateCities:

"The key to Europe’s vigor may have been the fact that it was divided up into a number of small, competing states. These were close enough that ideas could travel from one to the other, but independent enough that no one ruler could put a lid on innovation—as the Chinese court disastrously did when they forbade the development of large ocean-going ships."

"The Free Cities Foundation argues that, if we want societal change, the best strategy is not to engage in lobbying, but rather to build new “parallel structures” that offer a more attractive alternative to the status quo."

today we started to talk with them.

also, i just glanced over their abstract, after talking over the phone with peter young, and i love how analog to #agpl the whole idea feels like.

in short: they make a plan on how to implement a "middleman" between ecovillages and countries, through a private company.

did i get this right?

we will soon find out! 🥰

"Honduran Congress unanimously nixes special economic zones"

In Wake Up Podcast Ep. 64 they where talking on how this decision would (episode was recorded before this news) provide experience on how it would work out via international courts, if Honduran government would decided to close existing ZEDEs, as there's contractual agreement with host nation and city operators.

Honduran Congress unanimously nixes special economic zones

Honduras' Congress unanimously repealed a law overnight which allowed for the creation of special economic zones exempt from some national laws and taxes throughout the country, known as Zones for Employment and Economic Development (ZEDEs).

@dusnm Living in #FreePrivateCities idea is completely voluntary. If you don't trust corporation running for-profit city, you simply don't go to live there.

You can continue living in centrally planed country ruled by politicians, who have real motivation to "steal", waste from budged via various corruption means, leading to various inefficiencies, instead of earning directly by *success* of a city-enterprise, as gazillion of businessman do that creates products and services you use DAILY).

@LibreSolutionsNetwork @dusnm Not sure what "#freeprivatecities" is but they’re a tor-hostile #Siteground asset layered under #Cloudflare. This is not how an authors who put people above corporporations practice what they preach.

"Since FPCs are contract-based societies, there will be no need for “politics”, elections or endless struggles for claims to “public” resources. Because FPCs minimize regulation and keep costs low, there is no point in quarreling with other residents over what policies to pursue."

"...However, the rule of law has a problem that Bastiat pointed out as early as 1850: Anyone who controls the legislative power can assemble any law. Every group in power can arbitrarily make its own rules as long as it complies with the formal procedures. But even a constitutional band of robbers would remain a band of robbers."

Why a Citizen Contract is better than a Constitution By Titus Gebel   Abstract From their state most people demand – at least – protection of life, liberty and property. In exchange, they are willing to pay for it. So why not put the relationship between citizen and state on a purely contractual basis? Such…
