📸 1: After 9 nights, we had to leave the apartment as new guests were scheduled to arrive. Fortunately, our host was traveling to the larger nearby town of Chos Malal and took us along in his pickup truck. We arrived in Chos Malal just in time, 5 minutes before the bus to Zapala departed. The tickets were quickly purchased, and the bicycles were easily stored in the trunk, and off we went on our journey further south. By noon that day, we reached the siesta-taking town of Zapala.
📸 2: On the outskirts of Zapala, in an artificially created little forest, was the Municipal Campground where you can camp for free.
📸 3: During that weekend, visitors from the region came throughout the day and into late night to make theire famous asados (grill) and listen to loud music (everyone his own music...) a bit overwhelming...
📸 4: The second night on the campground we moved our tent further between the trees to get a little more peace and quietness at night.
📸 5: Since there was unfortunately no bus that could take us further south, we had to continue on our own power. 200 kilometers with practically no opportunity to resupply food and water lay ahead of us. So we bought enough food for a full four days and cycled out of the city at 6 PM.
📸 6 - 8: Fiona was still a bit weak, but we managed to cover the planned 25 kilometers in the golden evening sun ...
📸 9: ...to a spot marked as a suitable campsite on iOverlander.
