I have since read the Googoosh book and it is fabulous! What a life though:
She was a child star, main breadwinner for her family, had a brutal (unhinged) step-mother, married at 17 to escape, had her only child, three abortions and two more husbands AND her money stolen by her manager - all before she was 30.
That and more is all pre Iranian Revolution. Post Revolution we have imprisonment and near house arrest for 20 odd years till she eventually escaped from the country.

Her recording of the song ‘Man Binder Os På Mund Og Hånd’ (‘We Are Bound Mouth And Hand’) is one of my all-time favourite tracks.
Such a sad, beautiful song.
