I have since read the Googoosh book and it is fabulous! What a life though:

She was a child star, main breadwinner for her family, had a brutal (unhinged) step-mother, married at 17 to escape, had her only child, three abortions and two more husbands AND her money stolen by her manager - all before she was 30.

That and more is all pre Iranian Revolution. Post Revolution we have imprisonment and near house arrest for 20 odd years till she eventually escaped from the country.

A memoir by Googoosh in English?? Have I understood this right?

A real star, a real singer - icon even. I love her voice.

“Bavar Kon” and “Behesht” are my favourites of her songs.

The latter is the track she recorded in support of Iran’s LGBTQ community.

However flawed this book is it’s a must-read.

Just saw someone post a photo of a record that made me look up the artist, and so TIL of Iranian superstar Faegheh Atashin aka Googoosh. Anyone familiar with her and what's available via streaming to suggest a particular album? I think we need one on the 1001 Other Albums list, but the record I saw in the post was a comp that isn't online and has sky-high prices on Discogs, and Apple Music is failing me.
