A 21 year old #mechanic and #technician from #Lotus was killed on the #A14 highway in #Rougham #Suffolk and his friend badly injured after he drove an #Emira at 100 mph (160 km/h) or more in Winter 2023 and lost control due to a wet road surface and possibly unsuitable #tyres

(the #SpeedLimit for such a highway in England is 70 mph (112 km/h) )

Just read another rumour about the possible forth-gen #Toyota #MR2. This time the rumour is that they're looking to position out at the top of their #GR product line, in competition with cars like the #Corvette and #Lotus #Emira.

I'm pretty sure that would be a huge mistake. The whole point of the MR2 was that it was... well it wasn't really affordable per se, but it wasn't completely out of reach for your average punter. It was positioned below the Supra, which is currently around $90K. Not to mention that the name is famously short for "Midship Runabout, 2-seater" and the car was designed as a small economic city car, while the performance characteristics were a fun side-effect.

$200K for a runabout? I think not.

Of course, if it actually comes out, and is priced between the #GR86 and Supra, I am absolutely 100% getting one at launch. I love my #SW20, and have longed for something similar but newer for a very long time.

Well. The first Lotus Emiras have hot the second-hand market in Australia, and boy howdy are the sellers charging a premium.

I sure hope they fall eventually. One of these for $90K-ish (like the Evora before it) would be a hell of a buy!
