So, quick question for my fellow #Distrohopper folks…

Can I use #Lix as a drop-in replacement for #Nix at the OS level? I'm sure I'm not phrasing that right. What I mean is, if I take a #NixOS or NixOS based system and use the Switching to Lix instructions found here:

Am I really running Lix without Nix? I'm kinda confused by the whole thing, and I need it explained to me like n00b or whatever. I feel like I have to be missing something in here somewhere.

Some time ago, when we were working together @NasaGuy had to time how long it takes to install, setup and update a fresh #Windows 11 installation, plus install basic set of #software for new employee. Remind me, was it like 2 hours? Closer to 3?

I just timed how long it took me from cold boot to have fully set up and usable (including wallpaper) #Linux #Mint installation.

38 minutes.

Too all you #distrohopper s out there. How do you manage your PWs, Secrets and home-Directories?
I repeatedly find myself with different machines, different distros and the need/will to set them up quickly. I get stuck with setting up my environemts, and quickly end up either being undersupplied when important information lies somewhere else or oversupplied but then copying whole home-directories.
I don't want to store secrets plaintext in a git-repo, and i guess a central secrets-/pw-mamager on the houseserver will be the way to go.

My #Qubes2Nixos journey.

Yesterday, I again made the leap from #QubesOS back to #NixOS. Now I’m officially a #Distrohopper! Excited to test different AI models with GPU support, but doing that on Qubes can quickly turn into a test of patience.

Eu testei o projeto Nobara no meu PC de trabalho por alguns dias e foi uma experiência cheia de altos e baixos. Sem dúvida é uma distro com potencial e alguns recursos interessantes.
