I remember playing Defender of the Crown on an Amiga in my buddy's basement. I don't know if we ever got far. This video about the remake directly references the original. The scene where the trebuchet is falling short made me laugh.

There was another similar strategy game back then: "North and South". Besides shooting cannons at cavalry you had to peel potatoes and prevent cell mates from waking up while you plotted an escape. Ah... good old days.
