Love this decorative sculptural work on Neil Duff's 1909 bank building on New City Road in Glasgow. The monogram at the top stands for Glasgow Savings Bank, for whom it was constructed.

41. Pattern

🧠 This is another thing that catches my eye on the way to Cowcaddens subway from work. Behind this holy wall is a car park under a block of flats.

⭐ I like that the pattern looks endless and that it mostly seems like a monochrome picture except for the little yellow pipe and bit of green on the ground.

➑️ I think this would be a really effective backdrop with leading lines for a portrait. As it is, it's very simple and maybe too simple!

40. Rebel

🧠 They've tried all sorts of signs and obstacles to stop people cycling on this path and I was lucky enough to catch this rebel on his way past a fairly recent sign. This one is definitely more about capturing a moment that a beautiful picture.

⭐ I like that it's quite chaotic with the overgrown patch on the left, boarding and scaffolding on the right and more signs of temporary construction ahead, as well as the cyclist and runner passing that sign at the perfect time!

➑️ I hate the editing on it but I can't get it any better. It's almost maximum exposure and still looks dull. Fiddling with other settings doesn't seem to do much. Basically my camera settings were way off - too much to get anything better out of.

37. Subway

🧠 The way the drivers are so visible in the new trains (soon to be driverless) really emphasises how tiny they are!

⭐ It's harder than it looks to get a decent shot of a train drawing in to a station and still moving, especially timing it to feature the station name. I think I've managed to do it OK. I like how the light on the wall looks like daylight coming in a window but it's actually the light at the front of the train.

➑️ I've tried and failed a few times to get either train or background blurred with the other sharp.

36. I ❀️ Framing

🧠 I see this on my way from work to the subway station. I looked up at the right moment to see the Dundas Court building framed perfectly in a mixture of motorway support columns and scaffolding.

⭐ I like the mess of leading lines and mixed framing. It might be the one I've managed to avoid overediting best recently...

➑️ I need to learn how to pick out the sky better as the automatic masking in lightroom included part of the white building as sky and I would have done a bit more with the lighting there.

35. GFT

🧠 Another one of my favourite Glasgow buildings. I've noticed my recent posts have seemed very dark, after I've been satisfied with them after editing so I've tried going much brighter this time. We'll see how that looks on my phone tomorrow.

⭐ Level of background blur is good. I don't think I've overdone it this time!

➑️ It's ok but not particularly striking or dramatic, which I think I've tried to do with the more 'moody' editing in other pics.

Looking up a stairwell in the former Old Cowcaddens Church in Glasgow. Designed by Campbell Douglas and Sellars, it was built in 1872. A stained glass window by John Clark was added below the original glass cupola above these stairs when it was converted into the National Piping Centre by McGurn, Logan, Duncan and Opfer in the 1990s.

The wonderful and unique Ozalid's Warehouse in the Cowcaddens area of Glasgow. It was designed by William James Anderson in the 1890s and is an early example of a building constructed using an iron frame and concrete cladding.

The Brutalist 1960s Dundasvale Court multistorey flats in the Cowcaddens area of Glasgow, with the tower of the 1910s Neo-baroque St Aloysius Church in Garnethill in the background.

A classic red sandstone Glasgow tenement on Port Dundas Road in the Cowcaddens area of the city, complete with ground-floor corner pub. The railings along the top suggest it originally had a rooftop drying green, and looking at an aerial photo, it may also have had a rooftop washhouse area (but that's by no means certain).
