No More: National Rally Against Violence — Everything You Need To Know About The Rallies This Weekend

This is what you need to know about this weekend's planned rallies against gendered violence â€” No More: National Rally Against Violence. See times in your city.

Do you remember our little excursion in Sierra Leone’s Nationalpark Tiwai (yes, the one with the little boat cut out of a tree where I thought I would maybe die)? After coming back to the village in one piece I asked what the boat is made of, and the locals said something like “contry tree”. I basically know nothing about plants so I didn’t wonder too much - but now three countries later I was reminded of that boattrip again: turned out that “contry tree” is somehow a slang for cotton tree, and this cotton trees are what you in English call “Kapok trees”. Maybe you have never heard of it, but for sure seen it somewhere on pictures: their buttress roots can be wide up to 15 meters. This Togolese beauty here was not that big - but I was still very impressed by the massive, beautiful trunk.
