The members of the committee of the Women’s National Reserve who attend to the graves at the Memorial Cemetery for Soldiers and Sailors at Karori have a great difficulty usually at Christmas and New Year in getting sufficient flowers for the decoration of such a large number of graves. They will be very grateful for flowers for Christmas and New Year’s Days, which may be left at the usual depots at the Pioneer Club, Soldiers’ Club, and Jenkins’s Store on Christmas and New Year's Eve, and which will be called for by the kindness of a friend who will send a motor-car. It is wished particularly that the graves shall be beautiful on these days, as the visitors to the cemetery are so many. The committee wishes to pay a tribute to the tramway officials for their courtesy and kindness when large quantities of flowers are being carried to the cemetery.

This is the memorial for John Bausch and Henry Lomb in Mt. Hope Cemetery , Rochester New York. Their actual graves are under the snow in the foreground.
These gentlemen were the founders of Bausch & Lomb best known for early eye glasses and lens work, Ray Ban sunglasses and contact lens among many other things.
Started in my home town in late 1850's. B&L , Kodak & Xerox were huge employers in the 1960's and 70's.

More loitering in old cemeteries yesterday, this one is Oldcastleton cemetery on the Scottish Borders. On a high point with views of the hills and small farms dotted about. Nice of the farmer to have a fire while I was there the smoke adds as an eerie backdrop to the gravestones.
